The story behind this track is remarkable: Misty has very few positive memories from her younger days. One of them is attached to a Duane Eddy/Al Casey song, "40 Miles of Bad Road." It was a particular favorite of a man called "Shadow," a guitar player who happened to be a Duane Eddy fan. The original song is an instrumental, though, and Shadow wanted words to sing, so he began writing his own.
Sadly, he died before he finished.
Misty took up the task and finished the song. Years later, when she told me the story, I offered to record it and it became a surprise for her on Valentine's Day, 2015. She decided we should offer the song here in Shadow's memory.

lyrics
I bet she's thinking bout me
somewhere lost in her misery
and there's no better place that she
could be
I bet she's thinking bout me
somewhere lost in sad memories
and there's no better place that she
could be
I know she never will admit it
and i know she told me to forget it
but every minute goes by
and she can't get me outta her mind
I know she didn't really mean it
when she told me to believe it
'cause every minute goes by
and she can't get me outta her mind
maybe she thinks I'm cryin' somewhere
singing some silly song
but she doesn't realize that I'm standin right here
I party on while she's alone
I know she never will admit it
and I know she told me to forget it
but every minute goes by
and she can't get me outta her mind
I bet she's thinking bout me
just tryin' to hold onto a dream
and there's no better place that she
could be
I bet she's thinking bout me
probably got a weird fantasy
and there's no better place that she
could be
